Bill and Rusty's Excellent Wine Dinner!

My friends Bill and Rusty hosted a most excellent dinner the other night for their neighborhood wine group, and (guess what?) Twisted Oak was poured. I was invited so that I could explain the wines (easy), explain the Rubber Chickens (hard), and perhaps even explain myself (yeah, right.)

I learned:

  • That our 2004  Rhone , our 2003 Tanner Vineyard Syrah, and our 2004 Calaveras Tempranillo all paired very well with the delicious Pork Loin Roast with Fresh Plum Sauce that Bill prepared (in fact, I think the roast showed the wines very well!)
  • That it is sad that we are sold out of two of those three wines!
  • That Trader Joe's sells an amazing bittersweet chocolate bar by Valrhona that pairs very well with our new Pig Stai Pour't - the combination is a fruit and chocolate explosion! It's best if you can find the 85% Cacao bar in the black and purple wrapper, but the Pour't is also great with the 71% Cacao bar in the black and red wrapper.
  • That these great folks had been having wine dinners together once a month for at least 15 years (wow!)
  • That Bill could cook a wonderful meal for 11 people in a galley kitchen wearing a Witchy Poo costume and not set fire to himself. Much.

If you and your neighborhood group are having a wine dinner with Twisted Oak wines, please do drop us a line - we can at least help with the food pairing, and maybe more - and when it is over: what worked and what didn't, what you liked and what you didn't, and send us some pictures!
