Queue Logic
Those who know me know I cannot resist a good pun. My last job in the engineering field was with a company called QLogic, where we designed and built components that connected high-end disk drives and storage systems to computers. Cutting edge stuff and a lot of fun - and a great company to work for, I might add.
Today's Queue Logic topic (and pun) is a little different. Recently, Twisted Oak became a featured winery on the WineQ web site. WineQ is a new wine web store based loosely on the "Netflix" model: you can "queue up" wines to be shipped to you on a schedule - essentially building your own personal custom wine club.
Now you can queue up some Twisted Oak's limited production wines, such as our Petite Sirah or Tempranillo, and also queue up the limited production wines of Lava Cap or Escafeld, for example. Marshall and Joshua of WineQ have built a very clean user interface that allows you to rearrange your queue or add to it at will. I've even taken the plunge and received my first shipment from my queue yesterday...
One of the wines I received is especially interesting to me: the Smith and Wooton 2004 Tanner Brothers Vineyard Syrah. Why? Well, Twisted Oak also has a 2004 Tanner Vineyards Syrah. (Yes, it is the same vineyard - though we are at a loss to understand how S&W could diss sister Judy Tanner Block....) The Tanner Vineyard is right across the highway from Twisted Oak, and I am looking forward to trying the two wines side by side.
And that's the cool thing about WineQ, because you can do the same thing! You too can build a queue with wines from the same varietal, or even the same vineyard. In fact, we could have a sort of mini Wine Blogging Wednesday (Wine Queuing Wednesday?) to taste off these two wines, if there was enough interest. Is there? Leave a comment!
(That's a photo of the Dick & Ron Tanner taken during crush last year. Alas, I have no photo of Judy!)

Jefe, I've got your Twisted Oak 2004 Silvaspoons Vineyard Petite Sirah in my next queue; I ought to receive it (and taste it!) next week. Plus I've just added the two Tanner syrahs; I'll get 'em in my next shipment. Woo-hoo!

Thanks! I'll be very interested to compare your tasting notes with mine on those Tanners.
(And thanks for the song! I'm waiting for a quiet moment to enjoy it...:)

Hi Jefe, I have your wines Q'd - waiting for my first shipment to arrive, hopefully today!

Meant to write into this yesterday, but alas, no access at work and my Wii arrived yesterday, so the afternoon was spent playing tennis.
I would be up for a side by side tasting, but am not ready to take the WineQ plunge. When I checked again yesterday, there are only 12 wines that can ship to VA (and yours aren't included!), so I'm not sure it's the best thing for us right now.

Elsbeth - cool! I gotta check my queue to see when I have your PV coming...
Megan - I know they are having some issue with how they set up for sales tax collection in some states - and I know they are working to do it right to start with.
On the other hand if they have anyone for VA they should also have us! I will check and see if I can correct it ASAP.

I joined the minute I got news that you were on the roster, and Escafeld, too. So, I'm getting Escafeld wines in my first shipment, Twisted Oak in my second. It is great, and it was WineQ signing up TO that got me to join. I'm bummed they've chicken-proofed the WineQ boxes, though...

Thanks Dr. D.! I'll speak to WineQ about adding a chicken to the queue...;-)

Guten tag, Jefeweizen!
Holy %@#$! What an awesome write-up! And how did you trick all these people into acting so enthusiastic about WineQ? What is your secret?! :-P
I hope no one quickly skims this post and assumes I'm one of the Tanners... Though I might be flattered if someone mistakes me for Judy... And I wouldn't mind being Danny Tanner (from Full House) for a day -- that guy is just full of wholesome goodness (Which would be a nice change for me).
Fear not, Wannabe Wino, Twisted Oak will be available in Vuhginyuh very soon... As for the rubber chicken, the chicken-proofing of boxes was just a farce. The real reason is that it kept jamming up our rapid-fire wine-packing machine -- But our engineers are working around the clock to figure out a solution.
OK, so that was a farce too. I'm gonna quit while I'm still ahead. Thanks for the love, Jefeweizen!

So, when exactly did I become a wheat beer...?

Sorry, Jefer, but I'm a wordsmith.
