In wanton disregard for everything I have been saying the past week... I'd like to announce that the following wines...
...have won Gold at the Orange County Fair! Woo Hoo!
We now return you to your regularly scheduled incisive commentary.

Well, of all the nerve!
Really, congratulations, Jefe & Co.! I'm sure both are sheer poetry on the palate. I can't wait to sink my incisors into 'em.

Congratulations!!! Very well-deserved, if the Twisted Oak wines I've sampled so far are any indication of the others you produce. As a matter of fact, I'm drinking the PS as I type!

Kudos...remember my cousin in NC?
His older sister lives in Irvine-- where was the fair held?
...meanwhile, I just read this:
State and federal fire officials had warned of a potentially active wildfire season in the Sierra Nevada following an unusually dry winter. The annual May 1 snow survey found the Tahoe-area snowpack at just 29 percent of normal levels, the lowest since 1988.
...how are you doing in Calaveras?

thanks Russ & Megan!
djr - The OC Fair is in Costa Mesa, not all that far from Irvine at all. The gold medal winners are usually poured during the fair, by the way.
And regarding fire, yes it is quite dry! The fire going on right now in South Tahoe is very far away but the conditions here are very similar. We're usually listening to the scanner these days...
