Missed in all of the Piratical Hubbub is the fact that our crush officially began on 8/17 with a few tons of Verdelho from Silvaspoons Vineyard in Alta Mesa. Check out those lovely small berries! Today: Calaveras Viognier from Villa Vallecito Vineyard - stay tuned!

She's great!
Oh, I bet you mean the month... actually, it's quite nice - warm most days but not hot. Some wildflowers are starting to bloom. But interestingly, there is also the chance for more interesting weather. When we did our vineyard soil testing several years ago we were digging holes on April 30 in a snowstorm! Fortunately it's not the sort of weather that sticks around or ruins a vacation :)
