If that title (or the "solid gold" rubber chicken pictured to the left) doesn't get your attention, I don't know what will.... I know! How about a little contest!
Wine Enthusiast magazine sent us a note yesterday informing us of our latest wine scores for six wines. These scores will be published in their July issue.
Instead of just telling you the scores (and they're pretty cool, as you will see!) we're going to make you guess! And the first person to guess the scores correctly will receive a six-pack sampler of the wines!
There will be a bit of an honor system here. We're counting on you to not call up your buddies at the Wine Enthusiast asking for our scores. And needless to say, employees of Wine Enthusiast and of Twisted Oak Winery, and their familes, are not eligible to win.
And of course we can only ship the sampler pack to a 21 year or older person in a state that we can legally ship to. And while you are there looking at the list of states, check out our new low shippings rates!
We will send the sampler to the first person with a 100% correct answer. If we receive no 100% correct answer within the next few days, we reserve the right to send the sampler to the person with the closest answer. And if the scores become known prematurely, we reserve the right to cancel the contest (which means figuring out something else ;) Please only one answer per person!
Here are the six wines:
- 2006 Calaveras County Viognier
- 2006 Sierra Foothills %@#$! (White Rhone Blend)
- 2005 Calaveras County *%#&@! (Red Rhone Blend)
- 2005 Calaveras County Tempranillo
- 2005 Calaveras County The Spaniard
- 2004 Calaveras County Syrah
And here are the six scores: 92, 90, 90, 88, 88, 87!
Please send your guess to tastingroom@twistedoak.com. Now!

An advance congrats! I suppose it's fair to assume that Strumerika is not eligible to enter this contest? I'll be sending my guesses shortly...

That would of course be a fair assumption!

I would guess, but I'm too dumbfounded by that 87-92 range to even try. They're all too low!! ;)

Jeff, that is awesome news! Glad to see your wines getting the love they deserve. I would however amplify Russ' comment that the scores are too low. I tasted all of those wines at Wine 2.0 if I'm not mistaken, and ALL of them were very good!
Well, if you got scores, flaunt them, brother! Let's hope your wine sells itself from now on!

Randy, you weren't mistaken, the wines are smokin'. You know it's funny, if I like the wine maker, the wine doesn't have to be great for me to appreciate it. And if I happen to like a wine but am not too fond of the wine maker, I sometimes find it hard to swallow. With Jeff you've got a win win situation.

Congratulations Jeff & crew, great recognition for my all-time favorite wines from Calaveras (actually anywhere). I can't wait for futures releases this year. I think the Torcido should be way up there also ;-)

By the way, I have received a couple very close answers, but no winner yet!
