Here is an article from the Morgan County (GA) Citizen for January 2, 2007:
Rutledge residents Rich and Enola Lane have jumped on the bandwagon,
investing in a new restaurant on Monroe's Broad Street called Twisted
Oak Fireside Grill."
The place actually sounds pretty cool, I wish they had some pictures. So I went looking on Google and found a post that referred to the Twisted Oak Woodfire Grill in Monroe. (A quick phone call established that the latter name is correct - so much for accurate reporting in Monroe County.) But no pictures.
Back to the article, here is the money quote for me:
"In the spring of 2006 the Lanes and the Kings met ... to discuss collaboration in a new restaurant in downtown Monroe....
"Robert King came up with the idea for the name of the restaurant, an
appropriate moniker for the 'Contemporary American' fare conceived
by Nancy King. Much like a 'twisted oak,' her culinary style is
rooted in traditional American foods 'twisted' with a spin of
European and Asian pizzazz [sic]."
I suppose this is what you have to do when you don't have a tree... still, once we get compliant and represented in Georgia, it would be cool to be on their wine list!
If anyone can come up with a picture, please let me know! Or any other "Twisted Bidnesses" out there...
